Mod-Pod

Hello Friends!  Sorry about the gap in posting.  My niece got married and I was honored to photograph her big day.  I've been editing photos like crazy and prepping for the holidays with my work and home families.  It's been pretty crazy. 

Next up is Mod-Pod.

I had this idea of outdoor stairs to a rooftop bar/patio, but I didn't want to make a large house - again with the tiny house brain :).  I was really trying to make something roomy, but not use my entire lot.

This side shows an outdoor space off of the single bedroom and the window is into the bathroom.

Top-down view shows the roof of the 3rd floor office and the rooftop patio.  There is a yoga mat available for your early morning routine.  (Pool and hot tub are ground level.)

Lovely little 3-story house with one bedroom, 1 bathroom, pool, hot tub and bar (ohhh, yeahhh!).

Garden & Retreat

I saw a builder on Youtube creating an underground building with 'skylights' and I was hooked.  I had to give it a try! Since weather isn't something you need to worry about in Sims 4, I put the dining 'outside' to allow light into the space.  I also used the pool and put windows from the kitchen, looking into the pool, to give light and a 'view'.

Windows in pool lead into kitchen. Area in right corner is an underground 'garden' that also acts as scenery and allows light.

The bedroom in top right corner was added later when the wife became pregnant.  Its a bit large, but has extra potential.

Fire & Mystery

This lot has quite the story attached to it.  I started this house by using some of the pre-made rooms that came with the base game. It morphed as I went along and I realized that I was using red alot.  The sim that I put in this house was named Journey Fierro and all I could think was 'fire!' and she was every bit of that.  While she appeared normal...she certainly was not...

These bedrooms were added on later and I was a bit generous with the size of the girl's room.  Before my 'tiny house' phase. Since they are underground I wanted the pool to bring some light into the room and added a few windows.

But wait....wasn't there another building on this lot?  Oh.....Wonder what's in there....?

Uh.....what a strange little room? And why does that door have so man locks on it....out here with the stairs?? Its set up like you are locking something in.

Uh-oh.  RUN!!!

Quit crying...at least you were given a tv and some books...poor Eliza Pancakes didn't have any of that....Uh...I mean....What?

I had to remove the door to keep sims in. Locking it didn't seem to work for me then.

The beautiful homeowner and her prisoner *cough* er,...husband.  

This sim was a lot of fun to play.  I didn't set out to make her a psychopath.  I did put her in the criminal career because I hadn't yet played it in Sims 4.  It was after some Youtube watching, and a visit from the stupdily named Eliza Pancakes, that I decided to go a bit darker.  At one point, when Eliza was starving, my sim walked down to the room, looked in the window and ATE A SANDWICH all on her own!

Her first child was half alien. She was a bit of a handful, to say the least. I would say creating her story was the most fun I've had in Sims in a long time.

Raised in a Barn

I tend to play it safe when it comes to builds. I look online for inspiration and I will find tons - but pass them by because I feel so limited with my knowledge of what Sims 4 can do.  I did see someone on Youtube using roofs creatively - creating a "Hobbit Hole" house with the roof on the ground. When I saw an image of a barn in the country I was a little apprehensive when it came to the roof shape but thought "oh...might be easy enough"....I was wrong.

First I started with a lot that was too small so I saved it to my library, found another lot that gave me plenty of space but needed to bulldoze a house that was already there.  Then I started building - got the entire frame and roof created - and realized it was way too far back on the lot. I moved the house but when I did, for some reason, part of the roof disconnected from the building on the side, leaving the building behind, and the entire roof was then a square off!  I had to do a lot of 'remove, rotate, moveobjects'....I wanted to scream.

When it was finally done, I uploaded it to the Gallery. I went in to take photos of it and realized that the bathroom had no wall coverings or floor and the studio didn't have a floor....ugh.  I fixed it, uploaded it to the Gallery again and took pictures.  Yesterday I started to create this post and realized that when I had moved the entire house, it had placed some outside furnishings in the center of the living room and dining room table....*facepalm*...and had to take my photos over again.

However, for all of its issues, I'm really happy with how it turned out.  Its not perfect, but interesting and there are elements in this house that I've never added in before like a 'coat closet', mudroom, and 'pantry'.

When my husband saw me building this, his first question was "Where is my woodworking shop?"  I may go in and add a barn to it later...give him some space :).

This house has 3 bedrooms. 2 bedrooms on right of living area have a shared bathroom.  Master bedroom has a full bathroom. There is a 1/2 bath off of the kitchen and across the hall from the study. The mudroom is set as the front door and faces the photography studio. 1 bedroom on right has door and direct access to the porch. The loft is currently empty, but could be another bedroom, living area or skill room.  I really didn't want to fill it with unnecessary costs if I didn't need to...that's also why the porch is sparse.

I did use the bb.moveobjects cheat a few times for aesthetic reasons, but nothing should interfere with gameplay. Please remember that if you download this one from gallery that in one of them the 1/2 bath and studio are not complete and in the 2nd one there is a random couch and firepit in the living room that you might want to remove. :)
